How many ways do we need to connect with social media?

Desktop publishing and social media marketing with Inflow Studios LLCHow many ways do we need to be connected via social media all simultaneously? [A comedy seen through the eyes of a user enchanted by it all].

I have an iPhone and Macbook Pro that speak well together and when I'm on the road I've got my 3G network for all media needs but also wifi networks popping up onto my screen whether I need them or not, often password protected. I often find myself asking for the wifi network password, wherever I am, whether I need it or not. When I get back to my car my bluetooth kicks on so that all phone calls speak loudly through my MINI.

With all this technology it's so tempting to want to work it all even while driving my car. But, of course I don't because that would be dangerous. But first I've got to plug my iPhone into the iPod connector in my car so that I've got my new music just delivered and synced this morning all cued up in my car for my 8 minute journey home.

At home I sit down at my computer and now the Text messages and Mobile Skype conversation I was having with a friend from my iPhone (with a quick phone call too since he loves the idea of speaking via bluetooth through my car) can now move to my MacBook Pro. Of course, I set my iPhone up next to my MacBook Pro just in case I get another Text message. Meanwhile, I sign on to Facebook and speak to my friend via his Wall, Chat and Poke and simultaneously check my eMail. There are a few eMails from my friend here too about the music I requested last night—which he also put in my Dropbox—but didn't receive until this morning because I thought that after 2 months in the ON position, it was time to give my computer a goodnight Shutdown sleep.

To exercise my multitasking skills he sends me a few Skypes and Texts as I sit down. Before organizing my day on my iCal I need to center myself and see how my poems are doing on my blogs. RedBubble comes first and I  find comments on my poems. And, wait, there are more on my blog (complete with special photos). I'm finding now that I'm almost calm...

As I prepare to get up first to do the dishes real quick before starting my work day I say to myself, "Oh wait I forgot about LinkedIn." So, I sign on there and sure enough my trusty old friend has sent me a message there too.

Time goes by (on a special clock that only I know about) and I eventually realize my foot is now tapping and I'm about to blow off my yoga class.  Maybe this is the only exercise I'll get for the day. Just then I hear a bird tweet outside. Immediately, I remember my Twitter. Not just one but two accounts (because I am multi-talented). So, I sign on to tweet and read more messages from my friend who has a pseudo name there that I have to remember. In the background, I realize I got an eMail from the new Hootsuite account I just decided to try recently to tie it all together because I am inspired about social media.

But not yet... Oops time to go pick up my kids from school. Where did the day go? And the dishes are still in the sink.

Disclosure:  An exaggerated version of what could happen...

p.s. After writing this blog post, my friend and I realized that we both have Macintoshes but never set up iChat. We are thinking that maybe we should do that too  j u s t   i n  c a s e.
