Psychology of allowing people in
I’m in a networking group, and with that comes lots of education on marketing yourself. What I thought was natural for me has risen to the surface in a new form, now reaching out for my attention. It’s all about personal boundaries.
There is a lot of discernment required in deciding who you are in the face of the public. Your identity—the one you feel comfortable articulating to others—matters. This can be different from the one you show to your close friends. It can be different from the one you see from in your mind’s eye as you watch a flower petal float down a creek in a meditation.
It’s important for me to connect with people who know how to listen, know how to pause… Met with a face of judgment while I’m mid-sentence signals my nervous system to stand guard. That’s not trust. And so too are the qualities of humility, authenticity, calmness and sense of commitment.
Words
As I stare each day at the new vocabulary word of the day on my phone, I’m collecting thoughts or sentences where I can use them.
At the same time, I’ve been putting off a post I had been planning on my social media regarding words and phrases I never use and why. The ones that cause eye rolls because they mean nothing so why use them. I believe in words chosen well.
I finally published my book
I finally published my book. Fifteen years in the making. I needed to emotionally distance myself from the content before publishing.

Book description:
My Secret Innuendo®: In the Tiniest House of Time is a collection of poems and creative expression written during the most raw years of a woman's life—grief, heartbreak, healing—finally given room to breathe after more than a decade has passed. The title itself is a quiet metaphor: words and memories stored within a house in the mind, timeless yet suggestive and evocative. Sad, honest, and unapologetically real, this collection is for anyone who has ever had to write their way through the dark to find the light. She shares them now as they are: art. If you've ever needed permission to feel everything at once—and read or write about it—this book is for you.
Self-publishing a paperback book
Self-publishing a book sounds simple until you're deep in trim sizes, gutter margins, and a section break that quietly corrupts your entire file. The writing is the easy part. The technical side—getting a manuscript print ready—is its own skill entirely.
I offer this service: Self-Publishing, Simplified. Trim size, margins, page numbers, front matter, copyright page, ISBN, manuscript upload (e.g., KDP Amazon)— the fifty small technical decisions standing between a finished manuscript and a published book, handled.
AI, marketing and humor
Sleuthing… Sifting… Mulling… Triangulating… Cogitating… Crystalizing… Honing…
You have a business, vision and you’re using AI to get started. But you can’t quite articulate why anyone should care about your cause. That’s where I come in…
On recovery and intuition
David Whyte, the writer, pops into my Inbox from time to time. Normally, his messages set the stage for great introspection. Here’s the latest:
Rest is the conversation between what we love to do and how we love to be. Rest is the essence of giving and receiving; an act of remembering, imaginatively and intellectually, but also psychologically and physically. To rest is to give up on the already exhausted will as the prime motivator of endeavour, with its endless outward need to reward itself through established goals.
I love my Full-spectrum Infrared Sauna
The benefits include increased metabolism, aid in recovery from muscle aches and pains, immune support as the heat accelerates the immune response, detoxification as blood circulation increases and works together with the stimulated sweat glands, reduction in cellulite, ease in joint pain and stiffness, stress reduction and skin improvements. ⠀
Struggling what to call this post about AI when it’s listening
I’ve discovered how much an AI company pays a writer per hour to teach it how to become literate. Actually we want AI to be in the top notch of Highly Proficient, not just Literate. The pay ranges from $20-$100 per hour.
What I didn’t know I’d want to know now
I’m enchanted by myself. I just reread my blog posts from many years ago when my three offspring were teenagers. Some of the posts I deleted. Others I will savor for years to come. The writing was quite snide but only a single parent raising teenagers—ones who are born from their own genes—can relate to me…
Are you nervous? Ashtanga yoga cleanses the nervous system
Are you nervous? Many people do yoga to increase strength and flexibility, to lower stress and to gain mental and spiritual clarity. Those are great reasons. After a yoga practice, no matter which style (e.g., Ashtanga, Iyengar, etc.) you'll undoubtedly be left with an overall feeling of peacefulness that tops the way you felt before you moved your body.
My Writing Space: Day 3 of 30 of Write Yourself Alive writing challenge
As I write, I usually see a cat hair flurry by through the air. Cats know when I need them, usually when I'm sad or something is brewing to the surface, and they know that their purr heals. They know instinctually to purr on me whenever I'm writing—at least when it's my heartfelt creative work. (If it's analytical, where I'm making lists, numbers or angry, they stay away).
Why Do I Write? Day 1 of 30 of Write Yourself Alive writing challenge
I write because I want to get in touch with my heart. There is a longing that rises to the surface through my fingertips, when I'm feeling safe to let it out. That expression allows me to be those expressed words, when before I was shielding myself from being me.
Day 30 of 30 day writing challenge
Today, I spend the day motivating and helping my almost-18-year-old daughter write a 15-page play for the San Mateo Traffic Court judge in the Juvenille Court. We had the awesome experience of opting to meet with the judge on a speeding ticket of hers. We includes me because until she is 18, it's all about the parent.
Destiny - Day 29 of 30 day writing challenge
Dear Destiny, I am ready now. I'm ready for my dreams to come true. I'm ready now, but let's say my dreams are already true (as they are in many ways), what does it look like in 3 years?
When wearing a suit reminds me that I love my split ends - Day 28 of 30 day writing challenge
I was dressed up today wearing a suit. This hasn't happened in decades, it seems. I'm a freelance writer and yoga teacher. And I'm a mother of three. For many years, I'm not sure I brushed my hair every day.
Words I said today - Day 27 of 30 day writing challenge
She gave me this idea today to write only about the words I say out loud today. After yesterday, I had planned to make today a silent day, whereby I'll hide from others, and while in public put myself on MUTE. It's the Silent Retreat I've been dreaming of.
Quantum physics - Day 26 of 30 day writing challenge
I'm not a scholar but I love quantum physics. I dreamed about it last night somehow and then saw someone post about the subject today (which I hardly ever see). One of my favorite books is The Tao of Physics by Fritjof Capra.
Circular discussions on grasping onto happiness - Day 25 of 30 day writing challenge
I read an article today posted on the Elephant Shambhala facebook page about True Love from a Buddhist's perspective. I immediately clicked on it believing it would all be about how it's not really love if you are grasping on to another person. [I hate those articles].
I'm glad I'm not into makeup - Day 24 of 30 day writing challenge
It was my older daughter's high school graduation yesterday. I have been meaning to make more of an effort to wear makeup and get dressed up more often. I watch my daughters and see all of their eyeliner.
A day where I'm comatose On Hold with the traffic court - Day 23 of 30 day writing challenge
Today is a day where I won't make any decisions without first having a sign. Until I see one, I'll be comatose. I want to see if this universe is really looking out for me.
